One of Those Days

This Momma is tired.  It's been one of those days.  It's been so long and so much has happened that I think I'm too tired to remember, but Im gonna try.

The day started out busy.  Another visit from the PT, with more walking to do.  Going farther, with less assistance.  Graysen walked down the hall holding onto her PT with just one hand.  She walked back by herself - with all of us within arms reach, just in case.  Eek!

I am so proud of Graysen and how she accepts every challenge given to her, with such determination and grace.  She is such a good example of grace under pressure.

It doesn't go unnoticed.  Everyone here keeps commenting on how sweet she is, how polite, and what a great attitude Graysen has.  What a pleasure she is to care for.  And she really is.

The rest of the morning consisted of trying to eat, drinking a lot of fluids, breathing exercises, and more walking.  And then,  a well-deserved nap.

The afternoon was rough.  Graysen didn't feel well today.  She has been very sick to her stomach today - often feeling faint, shaky, and nauseous.

We had a very bad experience when she got sick and feeling faint and needed to get back into bed.  One of the nurses who ran in the room to help us turned Graysen's legs the wrong way, causing her to twist and it was extremely painful for Graysen.

I may have yelled at the nurse that she wasn't doing it right and that she hurt Graysen and that I would do it myself.  I don't remember exactly.  But I may have.  Momma Bear... she's hard to keep away sometimes.

Graysen finally got settled back into bed with pain meds.  We had to say goodbye to Aunt Gina, Hopey, and Marlea when they left today, and we were sad to see them go.  We made plans for Peyton to stay and help a little longer, made a plan for Colton, and we tried to get Graysen comfortable.

Graysen had an exciting afternoon.  Her PA, Amy, came for a visit and showed us the "after x-rays".  They are quite impressive.  She also removed the staples from the incision site.  Everything looks great.  Better than I expected.  We definitely got what we came for:)

Peyton's roommate, Sara, drove down from Dallas for a visit today.  She and Peyton fixed Graysen's hair for her for the first time since surgery.  Graysen was so happy to have her hair looking pretty again!

While the beauty shop was going on, Dr. Geck came by for an afternoon visit.  He was quite interested in the whole "hair-fixing" experience.  He had said he had never seen such aggressive hair
styling in his life!  lol!   He stayed for about an hour - just visiting with our family.  He is quite funny and such a personable guy.  We thoroughly enjoyed our time with McSwaggy today.

The downside was that Graysen kept feeling sick during most of the day and even during Dr. Geck's visit.  He called her in some meds to help with the nausea and we got her back to bed.

The evening has really just consisted of trying to keep the nausea and pain at bay, and keep Graysen comfortable.  We didn't do our evening walking or breathing exercises because she was just too weak and sick.

We are supposed to leave the hospital tomorrow.  We are hoping she feels better.
